In a recent blog post, Ardath writes about how B2B marketers need to understand technology:

Extracting numbers is one thing. Interpreting them is quite another. Marketers need to know how to do both. And I’m not just talking about clicks and views. What can you learn about your prospects and customers? What interests is their behavior validating? How is this interest helping them make progress toward sales conversations? What copy is Sales using to further the conversation? What combination of the content you created is most successfully contributing to customer acquisition and revenue growth?

We are working on these exact issues now at CMI – are we distributing the right content? Are our customers, both current and potential, satisfied and looking forward to, content from us? Learning to extract numbers and look at them in new ways. In the words of Andy Crestodina, “traffic magnets aren’t usually conversion magnets.” How can we fine tune our efforts for exponentially better results?

Are you looking to make new connections, learn more about people, profile your audience, and in turn produce relevant content for your connections and groups?

Says Bernie, “Use the advanced search feature to find people with whom you want to connect. Ultimately, you want to take some of your connection engagements offline to a live conversation. Using the advanced search function, you can create a filtered search and save the search so that you can revisit it over and over. It takes time to mine search data. Don’t rush through it. As you find people who meet your search criteria, you should study their profile to learn about their professional interests and how they engage with others. The save search feature allows you to mine data without re-creating the search from scratch.”
