It’s that time of year again…predictions posts abound. There’s so much to look forward to in the new year, so much opportunity, time to step back, reset, and make some exciting decisions in the new year. We love seeing everyone’s thoughts and wishes for what the future of our industry looks like.
Per usual, the Content Marketing Institute’s annual predictions post was a hit. 90 – yes 90! – content marketing practitioners, leaders and generally-speaking smart cookies offered up some great predictions on content marketing in 2020.
But we wanted to hear from our amazing #CMWorld community on their thoughts, breaking down some predictions, and hearing some of their own. Led by Stephanie Stahl, CMI’s general manager, the chat was lively, entertaining and enlightening. So let’s dive in! (And if you want to see even more, our Twitter Moment includes a few more thoughts from community members)
Q1: @socialsheek and @_amysparkles both talk about a shift from “ad-like creative” to storytelling that is less polished.
How do you think your C-Suite and clients would react to a move away from heavily-produced content? #CMWorld pic.twitter.com/HU0FbBOJcQ

A1 I think this is especially important with video. Heavily scripted and produced video can come across as unauthentic. Instead, showcase personality and live events and give your video more of a human touch. #CMWorld

A1. I think clients are wanting it. Execs imho get more nervous. #cmworld something I have been advocating for a long time

Q4: @jayacunzo believes we’ll see more brands move from creating pieces of content to creating shows (podcasts, videos, etc.). Which of your current content ideas/ initiatives would you love to build a show around? #CMWorld pic.twitter.com/46oJW34Vnz
— Content Marketing Institute (@CMIContent) December 17, 2019
A4. Shows are so great! People often don’t have time to site down and read. Plus, they make information easy to absorb. We currently don’t have plans to expand content (unfortunately), but I would love to make a #digitalmarketing debate show! #CMWorld

A4: I have 2 content series for my personal creativity/fun that I’d love to get paid for, haha. On Facebook I document things that happen to me on the CTA in Chicago. Now in WI it’s what the tipsy college girls say outside my window 🤣. On Instagram I run dating polls. #CMWorld pic.twitter.com/IIlCAVML9q

A4: #CMWorld This might sound counterintuitive, but I’d love to create a show around DIY digital marketing tips, strategies, etc. We see many businesses try to do it themselves & not able to afford a professional that I would love to share the knowledge so they can see success
