Did you know that 66% of adults in Cleveland are functionally illiterate – and that illiteracy is the root cause of poverty?
When CMI’s Creative Director, Joseph Kalinowski, learned about these staggering facts in a presentation from Seeds of Literacy at a student charity service day with his daughter, he knew that this was an organization deserving of support from the CMWorld community. That’s why we’ve selected Seeds of Literacy as our official nonprofit partner for Content Marketing World 2022.
Founded in 1997, Seeds of Literacy’s mission is to provide free, personalized education that empowers adults in Cleveland to thrive. Embracing the values of respect, inclusiveness, and compassion, they offer free GED preparation and basic adult education classes, one-to-one tutoring, and individualized curriculums to meet the needs of each student.
We chose to partner with Seeds of Literacy this year to not only raise awareness of the illiteracy problem in our host city of Cleveland, but also globally. With a Virtual Classroom that can be accessed anywhere in the world, the organization now has students and tutors from eight different countries and puts nearly 1,000 adults on the path to earning their high school equivalency each year.

There are a number of ways you can join us in supporting Seeds of Literacy:
- Make a monetary contribution on CMWorld’s donation page here.
- Visit Seeds of Literacy at booth #733 in the Expo Hall to learn more about how you can get involved.
- Complete a speaker evaluation at the end of each session you attend. CMI will donate $1 for every evaluation submitted, up to $2500.
