Speaker Tips with Tamsen Webster – #3 – Outline!

As we get closer to CMWorld, we hope you’re diligently working on your presentation! In Tamsen’s first video, she talked about the context of your presentation; in the second, she focused on how to refine the fundamental concepts. (If you missed those first two videos, don’t worry you can view Tip #1 here and Tip #2 here.)  In this video, Tamsen explains how to take those fundamental concepts and string those together to create an outline.

The main question you need to ask yourself is this:

How do I make sure the audience gets what it needs – not just that they get the big concepts – but that they move through those concepts with me?

As Tamsen explains, think of those concepts she discussed last time: the goal, problem, idea, change, and action, as stations on a cross-country train journey. Then think of the ideas she shares in today’s video as the tracks that you lead the audience along in order to get them to each of those concepts (stations).

Without further ado, we don’t want to keep you from this week’s video:

Don’t forget, you can see Tamsen in person at Content Marketing World in Cleveland in just a few months. She’ll speak on “How To Make Your Ideas Irresistible”: At the heart of marketing lies one seemingly elusive goal: how do we get people to love our stuff as much as we do? The problem is they don’t, at least not yet. The even bigger problem? The way we go about trying to convince them usually accomplishes the exact opposite. Thankfully, there’s a surprisingly simple answer, and it lies in how we came up with the idea in the first place.
