Sustainability in Action at CMWorld

We know sustainability is important to our attendees and exhibitors, and the CMWorld community.

We are committed to running Content Marketing World in an environmentally and socially responsible way and we also want to inspire the sustainable development of the industry we serve.

Here are some things we’re doing at the 2024 event to support our goal of creating an inclusive and sustainable event that leaves a positive impact on our community.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

Renewable Energy: We’ve switched Content Marketing World’s electricity to come from renewable sources, making our electricity usage carbon neutral and significantly reducing the event’s carbon footprint.

Mobile App: Again this year, we are relying solely on a mobile app to display the agenda, the special events, and other important information. Besides saving a lot of trees, the app will allow you to connect with attendees and sponsors in meaningful ways.

Name Badges: Once again, we will be printing badges on a heavy paper stock that will eliminate the need for plastic sleeves. However, if you do love having that sleeve to hold business cards and such, plan to reuse one you have at home or in your office and pack it in your suitcase. We’ll have recycling bins in the registration area for you to discard your badge before you leave.

Hydrate and Caffeinate: Plastic disposable water bottles won’t be available at the event. Instead, we’ll provide canned spring water, and refillable water stations are available throughout the San Diego Convention Center. Bring your own water bottle, or refillable mug for coffee breaks, to stay hydrated! This initiative has saved tons of plastic waste, and we appreciate your support. Our lunch and beverage containers are also 100% recyclable and compostable.

Sponsor Materials: Our sponsors are behind us all the way when it comes to helping the planet. Instead of printed seat drops and handouts, they will provide valuable materials via a digital conference bag on the mobile app. Booth giveaways have also become smarter, more functional, and more earth friendly.

At the end of the event, we’ll have bins to collect any leftover material from exhibitors. Based on the types of items collected, the San Diego Convention Center will coordinate with local non-profits to donate the materials accordingly.

Signage: We have moved almost exclusively to digital signage throughout the convention hall. If you see a printed sign, it has likely been repurposed signage from a past event or it has been printed on recyclable cardboard substrate.

Locally Sourced Meals: We’re sourcing seasonal fruits, vegetables, seafood, and more from within a 150-mile radius. To reduce red meat consumption, no beef options will be provided during CMWorld. At the San Diego Convention Center, green waste is composted, as there are no garbage disposals in the kitchens.

Leftover Food Donations: Any leftover food from the convention center will be donated to a local nonprofit organization in San Diego.

Electronic Evaluations: Rather than fill out a paper eval after each session, we’re asking attendees to visit the mobile app for on-the-spot speaker evaluations. We’ll be donating $1 to Amazing Strays Rescue for every evaluation submitted, up to $2,500. See more below for our fundraising initiatives.

FUNDRAISING

Amazing Strays Rescue LogoThis year, we’re asking attendees to join us in supporting Amazing Strays Rescue, a non-profit, all-breed dog and cat rescue based in San Diego that’s committed to saving homeless pets, providing safe environments, and addressing overpopulation and disease.

Meet some of their adorable pups and make a donation during Yappy Hour on Tuesday, October 22, from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Expo Hall.

LOCAL SUPPORT

As we move to San Diego, this year, we’re proud to support the capital region by using local vendors for catering, furniture rentals, live entertainment, staffing, security, and floral.

ACCESSIBILITY

  • Are you a new mom who needs a private space for nursing? There are two bathrooms in the convention center that have pod-like chairs for you. The Lobby E women’s restroom has four separate pod-like chairs and the Lobby A restroom has a separate lockable room with a chair.
  • There will be gender neutral bathrooms directly outside of Exhibit Hall F on the way towards the registration desks.
  • Multiple elevators are available in the convention center.
  • Special meals for those with dietary restrictions are available (please let us know your needs by emailing [email protected]).
  • The recorded sessions for on-demand viewing will feature closed captioning. Viewers can click on the CC button in the lower right corner.

STAYING HEALTHY

We know traveling and long days can take a toll. We’ve got some options for your physical and mental health.

  • On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, we’ll be offering our running club to anyone who wants to join.
  • Our Relaxation Zone in the Sails Pavilion space on the 2nd level offers a quiet place to unwind. Stop in if you want to take a break.
